Jesse Jause to display work in "Visual Alchemy" student photography exhibit Dec. 10-12

2013 Dec 3

SUNY Adirondack will host "Visual Alchemy; A Photographer's Journey," a photography exhibit featuring the work of students in Dr. Renee O'Brien's intermediate photography class, from Dec. 10 through Dec. 12 in the SUNY Adirondack Student Center lounge on the Bay Road campus.

A reception for the artists will be held on Thurs., Dec. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the SUNY Adirondack Student Center. Refreshments will be served.

The work of Jesse Jause of Queensbury, NY, will be part of the exhibition.

"Visual Alchemy" is an assemblage of photographs that reflects a personal vision, and a two-step visit. To articulate their vision and to address those audience ponderings, students write a statement about their artwork and photographic journey, the process of image making, and their aesthetics and visual connections to the photographic family.

To help students think about the photographic image and its visual underpinnings, the class does research about contemporary photographers and their work. Students use library resources (both print and Internet), read artist's statements, and share the concepts and ideas in a written and oral forum.

"Visual Alchemy: A Photographer's Journey" reflects the transformative power of photography as process from camera to print and its resultant photographic images.
